There is no doubt that education is a basic human right. While equity and accessibility in education are ongoing goals, they require continuous effort and commitment in many countries, including Canada. Presented by Wilfrid Laurier University’s UX Design Program, Design for Change is a great opportunity for students enrolled in a Canadian college or university to research, design, and share their solutions in an effort to address current challenges affecting students and educators across the country.
In this age of innovation, we see the potential for Artificial Intelligence to rapidly transform various sectors and industries. This year’s Design for Change challenge explores how we can leverage GenerativeAI and apply human-centered design principles to enable accessible education for all.
Design for Change offers participants a chance to sharpen their skills by applying their talent, creativity, and drive for impact towards a meaningful cause. In addition to deepening their understanding with insights from experts in GenAI, education, human-centered design, and user experience design, participants will have the chance of being awarded cash prizes for their impactful solutions and the opportunity to connect with peers, mentors, and community partners nationwide!
Over a ten-week period, participants will apply human-centered design methodologies to develop a thorough solution in response to the following challenge statement:
The top 3 teams at the Challenge Finale will be awarded cash prizes:
1st place team: $1,100 CAD per member
(up to a max of $5,500 CAD for a team of five)
2nd place team: $600 CAD per member
(up to a max of $3,000 CAD for a team of five)
3rd place team: $300 CAD per member
(up to a max $1,500 CAD for a team of five)
