Presented by Wilfrid Laurier University's UX Design Program and sponsored by Scotiabank, Design for Change is a great opportunity for students enrolled in a Canadian college or university to research, design, and share their solutions while addressing a pressing societal issue. Participants will be onboarded and provided context to consider from subject matter experts working and studying aspects of homelessness in Canada, along with practitioners of human-centered design (HCD) and user experience (UX) design to get a deeper understanding of available resources and enable them to develop a truly impactful solution.
Design for Change is an opportunity for participants to develop their skills through practice and application—directing their talent, ingenuity and drive for impact toward an important cause. On top of that, participants have the chance of being awarded cash prizes for their solution ideas, and have opportunities to connect with peers, mentors and community partners from coast to coast!
How might we turn care and compassion into tangible solutions for people experiencing homelessness?
Leveraging human-centered design mindsets and methodologies, participants will put their talents towards responding to this challenge statement and designing a thorough solution over the six-week challenge period.
Solution submissions should clearly connect to this challenge statement.
